Situated on a picture-postcard hillside of Crans-Montana, the hotel is the brainchild of Faern Resorts, a collection of resorts in the Swiss Alps dedicated to creating high altitude living wellness destinations, with innovative food and beverage concepts in some of the most loved Swiss mountain resorts. The interiors are alpine-inspired with rustic knotted timbers and cozy upholstery, stylishly paired with retro artwork to create effortlessly relaxed spaces, perfect for contemporary.
From the very entrance to the Faern Crans Montana Valaisia Hotel, the interiors greet guests with open arms, making you feel truly at home. The scheme is grounded in mountain charm and tones from nature, but with accents of urban vintage, connecting the social, drinking and dining spaces, making them feel refreshingly modern.
The reception desk nods to the hotel’s lifestyle approach, fabricated in timber, in the style of a vintage haberdasher’s display cabinet, featuring curated design products for sale and reading books celebrating alpine design, culture and outdoor living. The hotel lobby features a crackling log-burning stove and cosy seating for singles and groups to meet.
The main restaurant is the Eteila Brasserie, specialising in local cuisine helmed by Executive Chef, Lionel Mathier. The restaurant boasts beautiful views of the forest and surrounding mountains, sun-drenched by day, with twinkling clear views by night. Formed of a number of connected, stylish dining rooms, the brasseries is the beating heart of the hotel. Offering everything from mellow morning starts to epic lunches and candle-glow dinners. Ingredients are local, with hearty and healthy options for à la carte or half-board guests. With the buffet offering plentiful self-serve cuisine at breakfast and dinner.
The brasserie’s interiors channel 1970s decor, with a modern twist, featuring textured wallpapers, textural banquettes and casual displays of tongue-in-cheek mountain resort artworks. Rustic chopping boards creatively adorn the walls, adding to the sense of warmth and promise of culinary delights.
The hotel has a buzzy, welcoming bar — the Sewi Bar & Social Club – with speakeasy vibes.
Sewi means “Cave” in Valaisian dialect, in a homage to the carefully curated wine list and expert menu of beautifully made drinks and and a selection of artisan snacks. The bar is dressed in fresh artisan tiling and comfy bar stools, surrounded by richly upholstered booths and banquettes and cozy corners, just perfect for groups. The ultimate spot for a sundown pre-dinner drink or night cap after dinner to socialise and relax with friends and family. In keeping with Faern’s spirit of joyful celebration, creativity and playful rebellion, the art in the bar is brimming with personality, channelling the spirited style of 1970s black and white
The hotel’s bedrooms offer a mix of comfort singles, doubles and larger deluxe corner suites for groups and families. Many have spacious balconies, with views over the valley, forest and rooftops of the village. Run for The Hills’ guest room design concept is boutique-inspired; with some design cues keying into their design of Faern’s sister hotel, Faern Arosa – including the statement Swiss green cross woollen bed blankets. But the custom headboard, vanity desk and open wardrobe designs are more rustic than in Arosa, with a forest green toned palette picked up in the curtains, bed-blanket and alpine zig-zag armchairs. Guest bathrooms are contemporary chic, with black framed showers and brassware, washstand basin and terrazzo floors.
“Our bedrooms in Crans Montana use a golden palette of beautiful joinery and timber floors, accented by characterful art, chic lighting and characterful textiles. We designed the hotel’s bathrooms in a standout contemporary style, linking into the hotel’s wonderful Spa. All guest rooms and suites have been thoughtfully designed with families, couples and friends in mind; to create a comfortable, stylish haven during their stay.”
“The hotel features a wide range of room styles and sizes, so we created a suite of bedroom joinery designs which could flex for the varying styles and orientations of rooms. Bed sizes and storage solutions vary, but feature signature details which tie them all together. Our top priority was to maximise guest comfort touches, making each room a haven for guests.”
