We have just embarked on the concept design phase for the ground floor Lobby of apartment building Paramount Court.

The building is a 1930s Art Deco inspired apartment block in Central London. We developed a layout to transform the front doors and lobby, which over the years had suffered from some ill-advised refurbishment and a lack of creative direction.

Working with the client’s requirements, we developed an optimum layout aimed at opening the space and creating a greater sense of entrance. We proposed three different routes that could be applied to that layout.

Urban Moderne

A modern, urban take on the Streamline Moderne heritage of the building, with a mid-Century spin. Using exposed industrial style concrete, foxed mirror in Critall-style frames, shadow gap lighting and bleached hewn parquet to open up the space. Against this backdrop, accents of rich teal and tones caramel, copper and bronze add warmth and depth. Industrial-style lighting, geometric fretwork grilles, and mid-Century furniture provide the finishing touches.

Midtown Glamour

A rich, indulgent scheme, using rich parquet, marble, bronze, lacquered wood, and glamorous metallic wallpaper with a nod to the building’s Art Deco heyday. Bronze fretwork grilles are applied against mirror, to create a trompe l’oeil extending the space.

Original Panelling With A Twist

Refurbished wooden panelling is given a contemporary update, with simple mouldings, foxed mirror, a fresh terrazzo floor, and glamorous brass lights.
